Tainter Gate Rehabilitation, Structural Coatings, Gate Hoist Replacement

The extensive rehabilitation project at Jennings Randolph Lake focused on significantly improving the structural integrity and operation of the five existing tainter gates. To increase the USACE's water storage capacity, OCCI completed structural reinforcement by fitting and welding 64 new rib stiffeners onto the downstream side of each gate. Following the structural upgrades, a new, USACE-specified vinyl paint system was applied to all gates after thorough surface preparation. Essential to operational safety and efficiency, the five existing mechanical hoists were removed and replaced with modern, upgraded systems. Finally, the contract also included the installation of a new access road upstream of the gates, facilitating maintenance access to the approach apron.
