New International Bridge
Railroad Bridge Construction & Emergency Response
New Bridge Construction; Drilled Shafts and Substructure Installation, Temporary Falsework Design and Install; Bridge Launch/Slide; Sheet Pile Installation; Temporary Bridge

OCCI constructed the US portion of a new railroad bridge, crossing the international border into Mexico. The bridge's foundation consisted of twelve 8-foot, and two 5-foot diameter drilled shafts, along with 6 cast in place concrete caps and two abutments. The superstructure itself is comprised of six 179-foot and one 195-foot DPG spans, weighing ~960,000 pounds and ~1,260,000 pounds respectively. Due to the proximity to the existing bridge, constant monitoring was essential to prevent any structural damage to the existing structure. The new bridge spans were slid onto the substructure, where they were launched southward and lowered onto the pier caps in their final position.
