New Bridge Construction; Precast Concrete Installation; Specialized Falsework (Bridge Builder); Pile Driving
Winner of the 2021 William W. Hay Award for Excellence in Railroad Construction. Construction of a new 12,000-foot precast railroad bridge over Lake Pontchartrain in a sensitive environmental location. OCCI engineered, fabricated, and commissioned a one-of-a-kind, state-of-the-art bridge building machine. This innovative machine, the only one of its kind in North America, allowed for top-down construction with a near-zero environmental footprint. The project involved driving 1,139 precast piles to support 350 new precast concrete piers and then placing 39-foot-long precast girder spans.
