Gulfport Subdivision Bridge Repairs

Rehabilitate and replace existing bridge structures for Kansas City Southern Railways (KCSR).  Bridge sites were located on the KCSR Gulfport Subdivision between MP 64.3 near Hattiesburg, MS and MP 0.7 near Gulfport, MS.  The scope of work included rehabilitation of 16 existing timber bridge structures, replacement of 5 existing timber bridge structures, and foundation replacement for 4 Thru-Plate-Girder (TPG) spans.  All work was performed with rail line in service and under active train traffic where rail curfews were required.  The project was completed in 9 months.

The replacement of the timber bridges alone on this project required

35,240 L.F. (3,136,360 lbs.) of HP14x89 steel pile
86 precast concrete bent/abutment caps
81 precast concrete solid slab/box girder spans
Fit-up and welding of 7600 L.F of C10x20 bracing for pile bents
Installation of hand rail
Embankment grading
Replacement of timber tie and rail panels along associated track work
