Bridge Repairs over Tuttle Creek Reservoir

Location: Riley County, KS
Completed: 2006
Owner: Kansas Department of Transportation

OCCI performed the removal and replacement of eight hinge supports and fatigue repairs on an existing bridge over Tuttle Creek. Removal and replacement of the hinge supports required temporary support of approximately 24’ of the structure at each hinge location. The bridge girders were fracture critical. OCCI utilized Magnetic Particle (MT) inspection in the areas of fatigue repairs to identify the locations requiring repair to the fatigue cracks on the bridge. Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) was conducted at fatigue repair and cracked weld locations. The welders who performed the work on the project were all certified in accordance with KDOT and AWS standards for fracture critical welds.
